Understanding Shoe Sizes
US Sizes: The most common sizing system in the United States. Men's and women's sizes differ - women's sizes are typically 1.5-2 sizes larger for the same foot length.
EU Sizes: European sizing is based on the length of the last (the foot-shaped form used to make shoes) measured in Paris points, where one point equals approximately 6.67mm.
UK Sizes: British sizing is similar to US sizing but typically runs about 0.5-1 size smaller. Men's and women's UK sizes also differ.
CM (Mondopoint): The most precise measurement, based on foot length in centimeters. This is the international standard (ISO 9407) and is commonly used in Asia and for athletic footwear.
Tips for Finding Your Perfect Fit
- Measure your feet in the afternoon when they're at their largest
- Stand while measuring for the most accurate reading
- Measure both feet - one is often larger than the other
- Leave about 1cm (thumb width) between your longest toe and the end of the shoe
- Consider the type of socks you'll wear with the shoes
- Different brands may fit differently even at the same size
